Accepting suffering as the cost of love

Category: Tags: , ,

Description

Passion comes from the Old French verb pati, to suffer, and was first used in reference to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his self-sacrifice love for the world. Your passion, strictly understood, is the thing for which you are willing to suffer. In contrast to the great majority of others, we should not be asking how to avoid suffering but how to discover that for which suffering is warranted. As Frankl said in Manโ€™s Search for Meaning, โ€œThose who have a โ€˜whyโ€™ to live, can bear with almost any โ€˜how.โ€™

This curriculum will help you accept that the pursuit of your passions comes at great cost; prepare yourself to endure, with great heart, and overcome; and model your suffering upon the example and embodiment of Christ.
