Description
Happiness is not the result of fortunate circumstances, pleasant disposition, or a failure to understand lifeโs complexities. Happiness is a muscle, and if properly exercised can grow.
Psychologist Martin Seligman has developed a โHappiness Spectrumโ (Happiness = Set range + Circumstances + Voluntary activities). Regardless of your circumstances, Seligmanโs research indicates that everyone can become happier based on two factors: the promise of their development and the devotion to healthy practices. Happiness is about: who you are becoming (in your thoughts, in your heart, in your actions, in your speech) and what you do (with work, with food, with screens, and with your bed).
This curriculum will help you analyze the psychological underpinnings of happiness; evaluate our happiness, coming to terms with where we are and where we wish we might be; and look for key areas of promise and development in our own lives.
