Exploring playfulness in ministry

Description

In Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s remarkable book “Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience”, he identifies four kinds of games: agon, alea, mimicry, and ilinx. Having spent considerable time over the last few years considering how game theory might enhance our experience of Christian spirituality, I’ve begun parsing Csikszentmihalyi’s thoughts for Christian ministry. This curriculum will help you take a fresh look at ministry and consider how it might be gamified; cultivate a functional theology of play, incorporating God’s pleasure into all aspects of who we are and what we do; and affect meaningful change in the Church, prioritizing life and abundance over severity and austerity.
