Kinds of Stories: Crafting Compelling Narratives in Various Forms

The current fashion in ministry prioritizes “storytelling” without fully appreciating what a story is, how stories differ, and how stories can be used beyond their typical application as “sermon illustrations.” Simply put, our world runs on stories; we tell ourselves “stories” all the time, and those stories affect how we see ourselves, how we engage the world around us, and how we overcome adversity, obstacle, and challenge. This curriculum will help you understand the different kinds of stories and their application in Church messaging, preaching, spiritual formation, and liturgy; clarify the story we’re telling about our Church, our people, and our God; and parse that story across all platforms and experiences in order to generate momentum and cohesion within our Church.
